Qualifications of a Recreation Therapist:

Baccalaureate degree with a major in Therapeutic Recreation preferred

Professional member of a provincial Therapeutic Recreation association

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred

Certification is attained through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification® by writing an international exam, and maintaining ongoing continuing education and professional practice hours
-
Areas of specialization include mental health, rehabilitation, behavioural health, geriatrics, pediatrics and developmental disabilities.
